Aston Villa 2 - 2 Queens Park Rangers

Aston Villa recovered from two goals down to draw with Queens Park Rangers as Djibril Cisse scored on his debut.
The French striker, who signed for QPR from Lazio on Tuesday, fired in after a blocked Shaun Wright-Phillips shot.
Stephen Warnock scored a bizarre own goal from Taye Taiwo's cross to double the lead, before Darren Bent pulled one back from Alan Hutton's centre.
Villa bossed the second half and grabbed a second when Charles N'Zogbia volleyed in Stiliyan Petrov's cross.
Having spluttered through the first half, Villa were only prevented from completing a superb turnaround by some last-ditch QPR defending.
Tommy Smith denied Darren Bent on the line, while Paddy Kenny was called into action on several occasions as the hosts looked a completely different team after the break.

But with his side having failed to win any of their previous five home games, McLeish will at least be thankful he got a response after the visitors dominated the opening period.
QPR boss Mark Hughes captured Cisse and Bobby Zamora barely 24 hours before this game. Zamora was unable to feature, and Cisse was only cleared to play an hour before kick-off after paperwork delays from his former club.
But after a firm challenge from Warnock welcoming him back to English football, the 30-year-old former Liverpool striker wasted little time in having an impact on his first game in the Premier League since May 2009.
Jamie Mackie was involved in the build-up and when Wright-Phillips had his shot blocked the ball fell to Cisse, who made no mistake by firing an angled shot into the bottom corner from 12 yards.
With both teams knocked out of the FA Cup at the weekend, this game gave them the opportunity to concentrate on their league form and despite being four places beneath their opponents in the table, it was QPR who started with far more purpose.

Despite featuring debutants Taiwo and Nedum Onuoha, they doubled their lead in fortunate circumstances just before the half hour when Warnock, under no pressure, headed Taiwo's cross past Shay Given into his own net from eight yards.
McLeish was understandably dumbfounded but the goal finally drew a response from the hosts with Richard Dunne's header saved by Kenny, while Robbie Keane's deflected shot hit the bar.
Villa also had a handball claim when N'Zogbia's through ball clipped Mackie's hand, but it was not long before they reduced the deficit.
Keane approached the QPR defence before passing wide to Hutton, and the Scot's low cross was met by Bent for his 10th goal of the season.
The hosts continued in the same vein after the break, with Kenny saving shots from Petrov and Keane, while Ciaran Clark had a very good penalty appeal rejected after his strike cannoned off Shaun Derry's arm.
And by the hour mark the game had turned, with QPR struggling to contain Villa, who were stringing together a series of attacks.

Cisse glad to be back in England
Hughes's side had a great opportunity to restore their two-goal lead against the run of play when, following a corner, Mackie mistimed an attempted shot from Wright-Phillips's low centre with the ball fizzing through his legs.
But that remained an isolated chance for the visitors, and Bent could have drawn Villa level before N'Zogbia made his mark on his return to the side in place of the injured Gabriel Agbonlahor by hitting a sweetly-timed volley to level matters.
That was the cue for the Villa supporters to find their voice and only Tommy Smith's goal-line clearance prevented Bent from grabbing a winner.
QPR were also thankful to debutant Onuhoa who, along with Kenny, was a solid foil in defence as the visitors grabbed a well-earned point.

Blackburn 0 - 2 Newcastle

A Scott Dann own goal and a stoppage time effort by Gabriel Obertan sent Newcastle fifth while increasing Blackburn's relegation worries.
Ryan Taylor's 12th minute shot took a heavy deflection off defender Dann and left keeper Paul Robinson helpless.
But Rovers were wasteful, not least when David Dunn missed a penalty after Danny Simpson fouled Anthony Modeste.
Newcastle's Leon Best headed against his own bar before substitute Obertan sealed victory in the dying moments.
Blackburn must be sick of the sight of Newcastle, having lost three of the four encounters between the teams in as many months.
And Rovers will wonder how they did not salvage at least a point in a game they dominated for long periods.
The worry for manager Steve Kean is that his side's next two away games are at Arsenal and Manchester City.
As for Newcastle, this was just the result Alan Pardew demanded after a 5-2 defeat at Fulham and FA Cup exit at Brighton.
Blackburn need influential defender Chris Samba, missing for the fourth successive match, back as soon as possible if they are to claw themselves out of trouble.
Samba has not featured since handing in a transfer request but Rovers, still without a clean sheet in a top-flight game this season, are clearly missing his presence in the back four.

Rovers went behind after a mix-up between Radosav Petrovic and Dann allowed Taylor to take a speculative shot from distance which deflected off Dann and deceived former England keeper Robinson.
It was cruel on the hosts who, for the remainder of the half, did everything but find the net.
Gael Givet had a volley cleared off the line by Simpson while Modeste, making his home debut after signing on loan from Bordeaux, and Junior Hoilett both went close before Leon Best headed against his own bar while trying to clear Morten Gamst-Pedersen's corner.
Petrovic was also unfortunate before tempers boiled over when Hoilett appeared to dive inside the Newcastle area. So incensed was Taylor by Hoilett's actions that the Newcastle player earned a booking from referee Phil Dowd.

Rovers were awarded a penalty two minutes before the break though, when referee Dowd awarded a penalty after Simpson barged into Modeste.
But Krul came to Newcastle's rescue by keeping out Dunn's weak spot-kick and the Dutch keeper was alert to save Givet's tame follow-up.

Pardew praises Newcastle spirit after Blackburn win
Blackburn continued to create chances after the interval, with substitute Mauro Formica firing into the side-netting when he should have done better.
But their hopes were ended in injury time when substitute Obertan ended a quick break with the sort of clinical finish Rovers had been so sorely lacking.
Blackburn manager Steve Kean: "We've had enough chances to win three games. I think if you are trying to take positives out of the defeat then we are certainly making the chances but we just weren't ruthless enough.
"After Newcastle scored their deflected goal we dominated the reast of the first half and all of the second half. Performance wise we have to be happy with the way we played for the first 15 minutes, we controlled the game.
"So it is a tough one to take because we at least deserved a point, in fact I'd probably have been disappointed to have got a point. "I'll speak with Chris (Samba) on Thursday and it's been tough for him after wanting to leave. We're delighted he's still here and I'm sure he'll get back on it for us."
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said: "We had a bit of criticism about the Brighton game and we lost (Yohan) Cabaye, the two Senegal boys couldn't make it, and we still won.
"Great credit to the players and particularly to James Perch. I left him out even though he was excellent at Brighton. But he came into midfield for the second half and we looked a lot stronger in there.
"We've got such resolve in the squad. We've gone up to fifth - it's an outstanding achievement from this football club. To get a win on the back of Brighton was brilliant."

Bolton Wanderers 0 - 0 Arsenal

Fulham 1 - 1 West Bromwich Albion

Sunderland 3 - 0 Norwich City

Fraizer Campbell scored for the second time in four days as Sunderland battered Norwich City into submission.

The 24-year-old, who marked the end of his injury misery with a goal on his return to action on Sunday, needed just 21 minutes to double his tally for the season with a sumptuous volley which set the Black Cats on their way to a resounding Barclays Premier League victory.

Stephane Sessegnon added a second seven minutes later and the points were safe nine minutes into the second half when Phil Bardsley's cross ended up in the back of the net with the help of deflections off defender Daniel Ayala and keeper John Ruddy.

The win extended manager Martin O'Neill's run since he replaced Steve Bruce to just two defeats in 11 games in all competitions and extended his side's points tally to 30 - one more than tonight's visitors - to the delight of a crowd of 34,476.

For City manager Paul Lambert, who played under O'Neil at Celtic, his night in the north-east proved a sobering experience as his men failed to scale the heights they have done for much of the campaign to date.

O'Neill spent the final days of the transfer window frantically searching for a striker to bolster his depleted attacking resources, as well as defenders to shore up his team at the back.

In the event, he was only partially successful as Wayne Bridge and Sotirios Kyrgiakos arrived on loan, but no frontman.

He need not have worried.

The game was effectively won inside the opening 28 minutes as Norwich, who had previously made such a good fist of their first season in the top flight, simply found Campbell and Sessegnon too hot to handle.

Campbell, who ended his 17th-month fitness nightmare with a vital equaliser in his side's FA Cup fourth round draw with Middlesbrough, had already served warning of his intent, having forced Bradley Johnson to block a first-minute effort and then called upon Ruddy for the first time with a close-range header four minutes later.

But the visitors did not heed the warnings and fell behind with 21 minutes gone, in spectacular style.

Winger James McClean lifted the ball over full-back Russell Martin as he cut inside and although the defender managed to nudge it away from him, Campbell controlled before smashing a dipping volley over Ruddy and into the back of the net.

But there was better to come just seven minutes later as Sunderland cut a swathe through the green shirts.

Michael Turner's defensive header dropped to Sessegnon inside his own half, and he earned himself a cheer from the home fans when he cheekily pushed the ball through the hapless Johnson's legs.

Not content with that, the Benin international slid a pass out to Campbell on the right and then continued his run into the box to meet the striker's cross with a downward header which Ruddy was powerless to keep out.

Norwich had offered little as an attacking force, but they might have taken the lead themselves with 13 minutes gone.

Steve Morison got up well to flick on Kyle Naughton's free-kick and Grant Holt sent in a volley which keeper Simon Mignolet could only parry.

Turner blocked Morison's follow-up and Andrew Surman blasted the loose ball high and wide, but that scare was one of few O'Neill's side suffered during a first half which they largely dominated.

The visitors showed little sign of reversing the trend in the opening stages of the second half, with only Naughton's intervention denying Campbell a free run at goal after McClean had robbed Wes Hoolahan and skipped past Ayala before finding Sessegnon.

Ruddy had to pull off a fine 50th-minute save to keep out Craig Gardner's first-time shot with Sebastian Larsson the provider, and it seemed only a matter of time before the home side struck again.

The third goal duly arrived within four minutes when full-back Bardsley burst into the box and drilled in a low cross which Ayala could only turn on to his keeper and into his own net.

Campbell came agonisingly close to making it 4-0 when he only just failed to connect with Larsson's 59th-minute cross after leaving the Canaries defence in his wake.

Morison headed substitute Anthony Pilkington's 64th-minute cross just wide, but Gardner went equally close from distance at the other end seconds later.

Campbell departed to rapturous applause when he was replaced by Ji Dong-won with 16 minutes remaining having more than accomplished his task for the night, and O'Neill was able to hand Bridge a debut as a late substitute.
